We are at the present time discussing & schame for giving our people some form of allowance to compensate then for the difference between the cost-of living in China and this country.

To enable us to make our calculations

can you let us know (a) how the cost of living in Hong Kong compared with the cost in England Before the war, and (b) how it compares at the present time,
